“5 YEARS OF THIS 🤎 It’s a tradition at this point 🥲(hope to have another little ultrasound in the next one,)” she captioned anInstagrampost showing some of the photos the family has taken throughout the years.
Earlier this month, Mealy shared a video on TikTok combining all the photos she’s taken of her growing family. In the latest picture, Mealy’s husband holds their daughter in his arms while Mealy sits on his shoulders holding their son.
“I honestly forget sometimes that I can even share photos but I saw another creator share a series of her family’s growth documented over the years and just thought it was the sweetest idea,” she says.

Mealy tells PEOPLE the first photo the family took was in Oahu, Hawaii, where she and her husband lived when they had their first child. The most recent photos, she says, were taken in Florida and North Carolina.
The creator says she can’t recall what exactly inspired the couple to pose this way during their initial pregnancy reveal. “As far as I can remember, we were just trying to think of a cute pose for our pregnancy announcement,” she adds.

She continues: “I somehow ended up hoisted onto my husband’s shoulders. We have occasionally liked to recreate old pictures and figured this was a recreation that simply had to happen.”
Mealy also explains that her husband is a “great sport” when it comes to taking the photos. He “takes it as a challenge now,” she says, adding that the family has also mastered a plan for staging the photo – a process Mealy tells PEOPLE “looks pretty ridiculous.”

“Essentially one kid gets on my shoulders. Then my husband squats down, and I will carefully get on his shoulders. Then he stands up,” she explains. “Whoever is taking the photo hands my husband kid number two. We have about a two-second window to get the perfect pic and pray we got the shot!”
Thinking toward the future, Mealy says she hopes to grow her family a bit more. “Realistically another one or two would be perfect for us,” she says.
“We’ll absolutely keep this tradition alive if we do, although my husband will have to hit the weights to keep up,” Mealy jokes.
