Last week, the soccer star had a sentimental night on the pitchplaying her final game with the USWNT.In a tribute on X(formerly Twitter), Zach shared his appreciation for his wife — for her professional and personal accomplishments.
“You’ve given your everything to this game,” Zach said in the video message. “You’ve won at the highest levels and have done it with grace, commitment, passion and courage. Madden and I couldn’t be more proud of what you’ve done, and more importantly, who you are.”
That night, the soccer star went out on her own terms, explaining that she could keep playing, but decided this was her time.
“It’s not because Mama can’t play. Mama can play,“she told the mediaahead of the farewell match.
Madden also got to see his mom play in the World Cup, a moment which Julie shared a photo of in July. Apowerful shot on Instagramshowed all the women of the team facing Julie, who held Madden in her arms as she stepped onto the pitch.
“No words can describe sharing this journey with my son,” she wrote. “Madden has 22 of the coolest and inspirational aunties in the world!”
