SciFi Wire talked to Kandyse McClure , the actress who ’d play the character since the show ’s first episode about how she felt about the fiber ’s self-annihilation . perchance I ’m just a softy , but her answer suggested someone very upset about the whole experience :

Ummmm , how do I be politically correct about this ? They did n’t quite … I got a first glimmering when there were contract bridge renegotiations , and there were only 13 [ episode ] on the table . So I get kind of a clue then , because I was sure there ’d be more than 13 episode in the last season . And even then it was a routine vague . [ Later , ] I read the script in the hair and war paint dawdler , and then very soon afterward I get a call from [ executive producer ] Ron Moore . He state adorable things . “ This is the final season , and we ’re add a muckle of storylines to their finale , ” and this was part of a grownup programme they had for where the plot line was lead . They suppose they ’d revel my body of work and it had nothing to do with that … It makes me pitiful , still , that I would n’t be there for the final episodes , that I would n’t get to finish the journey with everyone that I ’d commence it with . I ended up omit the wrapper party as well , which was kind of the last nail in the coffin for me . But it was a really dandy drive , and I ’m still in contact with all these the great unwashed . We ’re still very much connect , and I believe we will be for years to come . So that ’s sure enough a long - lasting thanksgiving of being on the show . But it was hard that she would n’t be there to say goodbye , and that I would n’t be there to say goodbye .
