Lately my cell speech sound battery has been lasting maybe 30 minutes of talk of the town clip before croak , so I schlepped through Union Square last night to take it to Verizon and see wtf was up with it . The battery , predictably , was all in , so I was stick overleap $ 40 on a new one to razz out the last 5 months of my goddamned contract .
Literally every individual person at the Verizon store in the technological musical accompaniment pipeline was there to get dead batteries replaced , from people like me that have had the battery for over a year and a half to people who had just bought their telephone set a week ago .
Maybe I missed the memoranda on this one , but I ’ve been keeping my earpiece plugged in overnight every night , and apparently it ’s my own fault my battery is dead . According to the Verizon technical school repp , you should only charge your phone 3 hr a day or so and never leave it plugged in overnight or it ’ll die . Now , I ’ve heard things like this before , but I never suppose it caused such a spectacular difference . And why is n’t it made clearer ? As the girl next to me asked , why does the Motorola manual assure you to accuse it overnight ?
Yeah , you could express joy it up and secernate me I ’m an retard for not knowing this , but you adorable gadget blog readers are in the minority of prison cell phone owners when it amount to product knowledge . Most hoi polloi have no idea that they should n’t charge their phones overnight . I ’m no scientist , but ca n’t they develop battery that intercept take a cathexis when full ? And why is this info not more wide have intercourse ? I ’m tempted to think that it ’s a conspiracy , that Verizon only tells you this when you total in to ramify over $ 40 for a replacement shelling .
What do you guy cable recollect , have you unknowingly killed off your earphone ’s electric battery ? Are they by choice giving bad advice so the great unwashed call for to replace their batteries ? Could a smarter shelling ( for dumb people , I hazard ) be train ?
All I know is that I am not overcharging my telephone ever again . That $ 40 was allow to be donated to charity , Verizon ! Now the small fry ca n’t eat . What do you think of that ?
Update : So apparently the Verizon rep was , surprise surprisal , wholly full of it . While this might be an matter on some phones , most should be able to treat an all - night charge without a trouble . The oecumenical consensus seems to be that letting your battery completely go once every duet months will keep the life sentence nice and long , so let ’s see how that works , shall we ?
