Speaking exclusively with PEOPLE, the pair — whowelcomed a son together in 2021andgot engagedin 2022 — opened up about their getting-ready routines, their favorite skincare products and more.
According to the couple, who met in 2017 in Thailand on the set ofSeth Green’s movieChangeland, there are a few key differences in their going-out routines — specifically, that theSocial Networkactress has one and Culkin’s is pretty limited.
Although the product they both use is the new Multi-Active, the similarities in their routine stop there, they tell PEOPLE.

“It took Brenda about an hour and half, and Mack about five to eight minutes [to get ready]. The biggest difference about [our] routines is that Brenda has one," Culkin jokes.
Leaning into the theme of Multi-Active’s new pink, Y2K-inspired packaging, Song says she was channeling the early 2000s with both her style, makeup and skincare routines for the event — aiming for a youthful look.
“It was the best time of my life,” she explains of the 2000s pop culture era. “It was very easy for me to pull into some Y2K. I feel like that was my youth, and at the time, I was going out with my friends and living my best Christina Aguilera life.”

For Song, using Multi-Active has been a way to mitigate stress and other factors that cause aging.
“I didn’t realize that my skin was feeling just so dull and fatigued, and it was called stress aging, and I was like, ‘What?’ ” the actress recalls. “What I love about the Multi-Active moisturizer is that it does so many things in one product. For me, being so busy, I don’t have to have a six-step routine. I just have something that does it all, and I don’t have to think about it.”
Simplicity is key, Song says — both when it comes to skincare products and personal style.
“I think when I was younger, of course, you’re experimenting, you’re figuring out what your style is, figuring out who you are,” she tells PEOPLE of how her style has evolved over the years. “Me now, I think I’m just a lot more comfortable in my own skin. I honestly just don’t have time to think about what I’m wearing anymore because I’m running around.”

“Less is more right now for me, which is shocking,” she adds. “I only wear heels now when I’m working or events like this. I used to run around in four-inches all the time. Now, I just can’t do it."

When asked about when he first got into skincare and what his own routine looks day on a day-to-day basis, Culkin laughingly tells PEOPLE: “Whenever Brenda started schmearing stuff on my face.”
TheHome Alonestar also joked that the one thing he learned from his wife about skincare routines is “that apparently they exist and perhaps I should consider having one.”
“He has no skincare routine,” Song says. “If he washes his face with water at night, I’m lucky. I’m the one that has to smear stuff on his face.”
Although her level of skincare varies considerably from her husband’s, Song expressed how much they rely on each other for support — and how Culkin appreciates her natural beauty.
“I have never, never not washed my face before going to bed, ever in my life,” Song shares. “It doesn’t matter how tired I am, how drunk I am, wherever I am in the world, I’ve always washed my face."
Culkin, meanwhile, say he’ll be “relaxing with a glass of wine and waiting on Brenda to finish her night-time skincare routine and wondering why it takes her so long."
“Crime Scene Kitchenis not gonna watch itself,” he adds.
