Meta Disruption Facebook Instagram are down

Facebook, Instagram and Threads are back up after widespread issues were reported on Tuesday morning.

Shortly after 12:15 p.m. EST, a Meta spokesperson said the issuehad been “resolved.”

“Earlier today, a technical issue caused people to have difficulty accessing some of our services,” Andy Stone said in a post on the social media site X (previously known as Twitter). “We resolved the issue as quickly as possible for everyone who was impacted, and we apologize for any inconvenience.”

The outage took around two hours to resolve, perCNN.

On Tuesday morning people around the globe have reported getting logged out of their Facebook accounts, and being unable to log back in, while others have not been able to refresh their feeds on Instagram, according toThe IndependentandVariety.

“We’re sorry, but something went wrong. Please try again," read a message for some on Instagram.

WhatsApp, whose parent company is also Meta, appeared to be working as normal, according to The Independent. Users also had trouble with Google’s YouTube and Gmail on Tuesday morning, according toCNBC.

Monitoring serviceDowndetectorreported that error reports surfaced just after 10:30 a.m. EST.  Downdetector had received more than 500,000 error reports as of 11 a.m.

“We’re aware people are having trouble accessing our services," Stone saidin a social media poston X while the outage remained ongoing. “We are working on this now.”

The outage also comes just two weeks after awidespread AT&T outageimpacted thousands across the country.

Meanwhile, Tuesday’s outages coincide with the Super Tuesday presidential primaries in the U.S.. CNBC noted the disruption could harm campaign efforts to reach voters.
