The wildly popular dark phantasy video recording secret plan serial about die again and again ( and again ) is point to the worldly concern of comics , where it ’s likely also to tell story of hapless adventurers being killed by horrifying monsters . At least read a comedian will be less punishing than play the notoriously challenging games .
UK - base publishing company Titan Comics announced the comic this dawn , an on-going series from the author of their MD Who Eighth Doctor serial , George Mann , and Orphan Black risible artist Alan Quah . In true Dark Souls expressive style — for those unfamiliar , the series is beloved for its obtuse storytelling and world - building mechanics , relying on the player to divine info about the world around them through the citizenry and creatures they encounter , rather than a linear floor — we do n’t know much about the patch of the series , but Mann promises a abstruse prima donna into the mythology the game are know for :
I ’m ‘ idle ’ worked up to be working on this new series ( see what I did , there ) . Dark Souls has a plentiful , original world that ’s just begging to be explored in funnies , and I ’m honored to have the opportunity to turn over in and tell some new tale within it . It ’s kind of surprising that we ’re seeing an official Dark Souls comic before some sort of manga , fall in its Japanese roots , but a welcome one . As I said , Dark Souls is n’t really a straightforward story — although fans have leaped on the lore of the franchise fervently , it ’s a saga of tribulation and error and the story players create through their struggles to defeat the punishing challenges the biz throw at them , rather than a straight narration . It ’ll be interesting to see how that translates into the comics .
By which I mean to say there better be at least one return that ’s entirely about the master character assay to contend a elephantine devil , dying over and over again , before deciding to ensnare it in a corner and fill it with arrows till it cash in one’s chips .
