Acclaimed Japanese photographerHiroshi Sugimotohas turned his attention to electrical energy , with a new project entitled Lightning Fields . The word uses a Van de Graaf generator to lam 400,000 volts through a metal table , make singular design and designs .
In a late consultation , Sugimoto explained both the artistic and hardheaded underpinnings of the project :
“ I see the arc of lifetime itself , the lightning that struck the primordial gook … I have a kitchen ’s Charles Frederick Worth of utensils that produce sparks with unlike gadget characteristic … But there are many variables – conditions , humidity , perhaps even what I had for breakfast – I ’m never sure what influences the answer . ”
