The original classic of plague lit , Michael Crichton ’s Andromeda Strain , is getting a posh remake as an A&E miniseries . produce by Ridley and Tony Scott , the new Andromeda looks like it ’ll bring all of the loudness , and grit of the novel , but with more of an natural action - film spin . Best of all , it ’ll give none of the original ’s intelligence and tending to detail . Watch the trailer and then click through to watch more , let in coddler for those of you who somehow missed the classic original .
The Andromeda Strain was one of my favourite novels , long before I had any mind who this Crichton guy was . And the 1970s motion picture was one of the few adaptations that was n’t a letdown . And yet I ’m still conservatively affirmative that this fresh version could improve on them both , establish on the cast and crew . In exceptional , Benjamin Bratt is always fun to find out , and so are Daniel Dae Kim and Andre Braugher . I can survive with Ricky Schroder . The Scotts produced the miniseries , but it ’s manoeuver by Mikael Salomon , who ’s done a sight of TV directing and was the cinematographer on The Abyss . I ’ll avoid commenting on the fact that Ridley Scott is putting his name on Andromeda after swear that skill fiction was dead . Here ’s how A&E describes the secret plan of their interlingual rendition :
A U.S. artificial satellite crash - lands near a modest town in Utah , unleashing a deadly plague that kills about everyone except two survivor – an one-time gentleman’s gentleman and an infant , who may cater clew to immunize the population . As the military seek to quarantine the area , a squad of extremely specialized scientist are assembled to find a therapeutic and turn back the spread of the alien pathogen , computer code - named Andromeda .
