This coolheaded lamp is made the same way those 3D wooden dinosaur models are . You get a set of flat wooden mystifier pieces , notch them together , and presto – from 2D bit you get 3D awesomeness . Plus lasers !
clothes designer Pedro Mealha created this lamp using a CNC laser cutter to create utter shapes for the body of the lamp , then tally metallic element bit to make elastic tension – and it look like ball berings to balance the base . Very unostentatious and very geeky . you could get this lamp , called rhizome , as a DiY set or fully - made .
Design Boom order :

The labor emerged from his involvement in wooden dinosaur kits and the mode in which the various components are patch together to gain a three - dimensional shape from a vapid wooden panel . made from two A3 aeroply boards , rootstalk uses an light-emitting diode ring as a source of luminosity . the lamp was ab initio intended to be for ego - assembly for DIY enthusiasts , however , the project has now evolve into a ready assembled production made from 3 mm bamboo ply and is full extendable and can rotate .
